Jo White
Born in Liverpool. Grew up in the North West.
What’s your background?
My early career was business-to-business in the media sector. Since discovering the wonderful world of recruitment 10 years ago, I’ve spent six years with a FTSE top-100 plc and now four years with VANA (though it doesn’t seem that long. Honest.)
What’s the most interesting place you’ve visited?
I’d have to say Bangkok. I loved it and hated it in equal measures - and would certainly describe it as ‘interesting’!
Favourite book?
Currently The Gruffalo (my three year old loves it too). Ten years ago, I would have said anything by Milan Kundera or Philip K. Dick. Twenty years ago it would have been The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Be surprised – I never buy a ticket.
Local market or big department store?
Easy – definitely the local market.
What new thing would you like to try?
I’d love to learn to sing. Being tone deaf is a bit of a hindrance though, and I’m not sure it would be fair to subject my cat-like howls on the tender ears of an unsuspecting world.
Your scariest moment?
Probably more exciting than scary, but I would say learning to scuba dive and taking my first sea dive from a shipwreck just off the south coast. The water was very cold, dark and going through the wreck was pretty claustrophobic. To cap it all though, I finished the dive by dropping a 30lb belt on my head and knocked myself out!
